If you came by our apartment, you’d have to jump over or around boxes just to get past the kitchen. Boxes, bubble wrap, and tape are everywhere. There’s somewhat of a system, but you’d never be able to guess it just by looking :).
One suggestion we got from others is to have a box clearly labeled to go last on the truck and be the first box off the truck in our new place, filled with essentials for our first night (or two or three). I’m hoping it will make the transition as smooth as possible, so today I’m sharing what we’re filling our LOFO (Last On First Off) box with. FYI – I don’t plan on cooking our first night or the next day. If you do want to cook, be sure to add the supplies you’ll need for that!
- Toilet paper
- Shower curtain
- Shower supplies: shampoo, conditioner, soap, razor
- Bath towels
- Wine bottle opener
- Paper plates/plastic cups
- Paper towels or napkins
- 2-3 garbage bags
- Hand soap
- Air mattress packed right next to LOFO box (We will be waiting on a mattress shipment to our new apartment)
This box will be in addition to our carry-on luggage that we’re taking with us on the plane. In there, we’ll keep a few days’ worth of outfits, valuables such as cameras, jewelry, and passports, and other daily items (prescriptions, hair dryer, electronics & chargers, etc.).
What did I forget? Do any experienced movers have any suggestions?
