Happy New Year! I always enjoy a fresh beginning. As one of my very favorite literature characters, Anne Shirley in Anne of Green Gables, said, “Tomorrow is always fresh with no mistakes in it.” That’s kind of how the new year feels to me. It’s a chance to reflect on the goals and mistakes and achievements and to begin again with a fresh year.
Last year I created a set of goals that I shared on the blog. Some things went great, and some things flopped. I’m proud of my organization of our schedules and our meals. I’m happy that we set aside quality “Rob & Bridgette time” regularly, despite the crazy business school schedule. I love that I read so many wonderful and varied books this year. On the other hand… the 7:15 alarm clock to become a morning person just didn’t happen. And I never took a DSLR photography class like I wanted to. From 2014, there are definitely some things I want to continue in my life, and also some things that go back on the “to-do” list.
2015 is going to be a big year. We’re going on our first service trip to a developing country. My husband graduates from business school with his MBA in May (yay!!). I will finish up at my current job. We’re moving back to NYC! We’ll create a new home for ourselves and a new community. Rob will begin his new job, and I will determine my ‘something new,’ as well. Like I said… big year.
As exciting as this year is and as much as I’m looking forward to the changes ahead, there will be many moments of frustration and challenge, I’m sure. Finding an apartment in NYC is not exactly a walk in the park. I tend to lack in confidence when it comes to my professional desires. And our personal schedules will be all over the place from the beginning of the year to the end. My goal this year is going to be all about my attitude. I want to be flexible, patient, and positive through it all.
What are your goals for 2015?
