At this time tomorrow morning, I’ll be on the journey to run 13.1 miles around Charlottesville! I know it will be hard… in fact, I distinctly recall the exact moment in my last half-marathon when I thought to myself, “I will NEVER do this again.” Hah. It’s safe to say that the feeling of accomplishment and joy when crossing that finish line far and away trumped the feeling of pain and defeat I had around mile 11.
This quote below truly resonates with me, because I don’t do long-distance races for medals (hah). I do them to challenge myself and know that when I feel my worst – mentally, emotionally, physically – I can overcome it. For me, it’s all about mind over matter. When my limits are tested, it’s an amazing thing to know that I can finish strong. Cheer for me in spirit tomorrow morning!
