“Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the
mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give
up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the
mind is not tired.”
– George S. Patton, U.S. Army General, 1912 Olympian
I decided to push myself (BIG push) this year by registering for my very first half-marathon. I’ll be running in the More/Fitness Magazine Women’s Half Marathon in Central Park on April 14. YIKES! But I really think this will be a good push for me. Not only do I like a good challenge, but I think the training will be a welcome diversion from busyness at work this spring, wedding planning, and various stressors in life. It will also be a great way to stay in shape and will force me to pay close attention to my eating habits. Woman can’t run on Mexican food alone!
Feel free to leave me a comment and share your favorite foods and recipes that keep you energized! I’d also love to hear training tips from you. I’m sharing a training schedule that I found at http://www.marathonrookie.com/half-marathon-training.html and will try to stick to as best as I can. Here’s to making my mind run my body!
