As an avid, life-long tennis player and fan, the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center is like a mecca. For as long as I can remember, I’ve tuned in to watch the greatest play for the title at the US Open in Flushing, Queens every August/September. I got to attend my first US Open three years ago when we lived here before, and it was one of those memories I’ll keep forever.
But last week, our workout took the form of a round of tennis on the US Open courts! The public can reserve a court online for a fee (relatively low compared to other tennis courts in the city). The fee fluctuates based on peak and off-peak times, so we went with a weekday night-time session (that will run you $24-$35 for an hour).
This is a fantastic way to check out the National Tennis Center if you’re not in NYC during the US Open tournament. You can take the subway from Manhattan to Queens, and the subway stop empties directly into the entrance to the tennis center.
And all for the same price as one SoulCycle class… ;).
